Carter Scott started practicing yoga in 1995 and found his passion for teaching in 2007 after making his first feature documentary film "ONE". When making this movie, he spent three years with some of the world's greatest spiritual teachers, authors and icons such as Deepak Chopra, Robert Thurman, RamDas and Thich Nhat Hanh to name a few. Their insight, teaching and inspiration gave him a new voice. He has taken this experience and infused it with traditional asana allowing space for self exploration and focusing on body awareness. He teaches a variety of styles ranging from hatha, vinyasa, yin and restorative. A Michigan native, artist, writer and an independent filmmaker Carter has made Ann Arbor his home since 2012.
Robin Schultz-Purves joined her first yoga class as a competitive rower looking for injury prevention as she aged. She realized yoga offered much more than just physical poses, and she became smitten with the benefits. She decided to turn her passion into her career and founded Yoga Rising in 2013. She is currently working on her RYT 500 hour certification. No matter your age or experience, her classes are designed to help you expand your flexibility and mobility in a way that’s both challenging and relaxing. Her classes are an effective way to reduce injuries, increase balance, and extend longevity in your sport and beyond. She also brings her knowledge of Social Work & Experiential Education to give students well-rounded classes, a sense of community, and as much support as possible.
Katie Schroeder is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Yoga Instructor, and Mobility Coach. She has been in practice for 10 years and is deeply, wildly, perhaps obsessively, in love with the human body. Her practice is driven by the belief that health and mobility should be accessible to everyone and anyone, and one of the touchstones of her practice is getting people reacquainted with their body and all they are capable of. Outside of her deep love for anatomy, movement, and the healing journey Katie is an avid outdoor enthusiast, artist and self proclaimed bookworm. In her class, we will be doing sequences of gentle movements with the intention of waking up the body and increasing our mobility. Perfect for all levels.
