Fall Honey Farvest

This morning was a reminder for us of what farmers experience each season. Tim, one of the incredible beekeepers we work with, came to collect honey from the hives that he keeps on our family’s farm. We always feel lucky when we get to join them in their work and each time we learn a little more.

But this morning was also tough - it’s been a hard year for many hives. Climate, pests, parasites and pathogens impact bees’ ability to produce honey. The bees experience those stresses, and so do the beekeepers. The support you’ve shown us over the last several months has helped us continue to support and purchase from Michigan’s farmers and beekeepers as they too navigate challenges this year. And we definitely felt the impact and importance of that small business multiplier effect at work this morning. Thank you for choosing local - it matters in big ways.
